The Jewellery Industry Network (JIN) has announced the launch of a new series of training courses at The Centre, its dedicated education and collaboration hub.
Located in a purpose-built facility, The Centre has already been supporting the industry with resources and workspace, but the introduction of its first formal training programme in 2025 marks a major development in its offerings.
Laura Moore, Managing Director of JIN, highlighted the significance of this initiative: “The Centre has been built to be a hub for the entire industry, regardless of location. We’re excited to launch a full calendar of events and training in 2025 to meet the needs of our community.”
First Courses Begin in March 2025
The new training programme will start in March 2025 and will be led by Peter Keep, a highly regarded jewellery educator and founder of Jewellery Training Solutions. Known for his practical teaching style, Keep will deliver workshops aimed at jewellers at all stages of their careers.
The initial workshops include:
- Beginners Ring-Making Classes: Introductory courses for those new to jewellery making. These sessions are also suitable for retail staff who want to gain a deeper understanding of jewellery manufacturing processes.
- Three-Day Stone Setting Workshop: Advanced training covering three specialised stone-setting techniques, providing experienced jewellers with the opportunity to enhance their skills and expand their service offerings.
On the collaboration, Laura Moore commented: “To have Peter offer training at The Centre is a great opportunity. His workshops will provide valuable learning experiences for both students and professionals.”
Supporting Skill Development Across the Industry
The Centre has been designed to address pressing challenges within the jewellery trade, including the ongoing shortage of skilled bench jewellers. By offering practical, hands-on training alongside courses focused on business strategies, The Centre aims to empower participants to excel both at the bench and in managing their operations.
The facility’s nine fully equipped jewellery benches are ideal for workshops and provide a supportive environment for knowledge-sharing among jewellers, educators, and industry experts.
