12 October 2022 marked a pivotal transition in the leadership of the Jewellers Association of Australia (JAA) with the announcement of Karen Denaro’s resignation as the JAA Director and President. The Board accepted her mid-term resignation, acknowledging her dedicated service, enthusiasm, and commitment during her tenure.
The JAA Board expressed its collective gratitude towards Denaro, extending heartfelt thanks for her contributions. “The Board wishes her all the best for her future endeavours,” the official statement read, highlighting the impact of her leadership within the organization.
Joshua Sharp Appointed as New President
In the wake of this significant change, the JAA Board was prompt in appointing a new leader, announcing Joshua Sharp as the new JAA President, effective immediately. Sharp, who transitioned from his previous role as Vice President, is no stranger to leadership within the jewellery industry.
With a 15-year tenure as the General Manager of Ian Sharp Jewellery, his expertise extends across business operations, finance, and specific jewellery niches, including diamonds and second-hand jewellery. Beyond his direct industry experience, Sharp brings a wealth of knowledge from his background in banking and finance, equipping him with a multifaceted understanding essential for his new role at the helm of JAA.
Board Reshuffle: New Roles for Bauer and Marks
Accompanying Sharp’s ascension, the JAA announced further reconfigurations within its leadership. Ronnie Bauer will step into the role of Vice President, and Cameron Marks will take on the responsibilities of Treasurer. Both Bauer and Marks are seasoned members of the JAA Board, carrying vast industry experience that will undoubtedly continue to benefit the association’s governance.
Upcoming Annual General Meeting
